Manchester United striker eager to “keep pushing” in tricky period for club

Benjamin Sesko believes “great things are coming” for Manchester United after bagging his first brace for the club on Wednesday night.

In a single game the Slovenian doubled his United tally, showing quick, intelligence and decisive finishing at Turf Moor. However, United still drew the game against the Premier League’s second-from-bottom club, and are still searching for lift off after three draws on the bounce and sacking head coach Ruben Amorim this week.

“I think in general we’re a really great group,” Sesko said of himself and his teammates. “We’re doing everything to try prove ourselves every single time.

“We just have to keep going, keep pushing, because I think we’re great and, yeah, I believe that great things are coming.”

The 22-year-old joined United in a £74m deal from RB Leipzig in the summer. But he had netted only twice in 16 games before showing his goalscoring prowess in the second half at Turf Moor.

“Great movements, great ball,” Sesko said of his goals, the first of which came from a through ball by Bruno Fernandes, and the second a cross from Patrick Dorgu.

“With this kind of situation, we are showing what team we are, what we are capable of and, yeah, it’s great for the future, obviously,” Sesko added.”

On United’s prospects going forward, Sesko said: “We’re creating good chances. Unfortunately, we received two goals.

“We still got a draw, which is important, but now it’s just up to us to try to focus on the details and try to win the next game.”
