Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Max Eberl, rules out major signings but hints at contract extensions for key players like Upamecano and Gnabry.

Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Max Eberl, has confirmed that the club won’t be making any major signings in the upcoming winter transfer window. Instead, the focus is on extending contracts for key players.

Eberl acknowledged that departures can’t be entirely ruled out, citing the possibility of a player feeling unsatisfied and wanting to explore other options. Sacha Boey, who has struggled for minutes, could be one such player, with Crystal Palace reportedly interested.

Despite potential exits, Bayern’s main priority is securing the futures of Dayot Upamecano and Serge Gnabry, whose contracts are approaching expiry. “There are extensions we want to complete, and those are well known,” Eberl said.

Eberl hinted that fans might receive positive news over Christmas, saying, “Maybe there will be a pleasant phone call before Christmas. I don’t know, but sometimes you do get surprised.”

Bayern Munich currently tops the Bundesliga table, and contract renewals seem to be the focus for the winter break.
