Bayern Munich has ruled out a permanent deal for Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku, opting to focus on loan additions instead, despite the player’s interest in a permanent transfer.

Bayern Munich has decided to prioritize loan deals over permanent transfers, effectively ruling out a potential permanent signing of Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku.

Director of sport Max Erbl stated that the club’s mandate is to bring in a player on loan, citing the need to save money. This stance might put an end to Bayern’s pursuit of Nkunku, who has expressed interest in joining the club.

Nkunku has struggled to make an impact at Chelsea, starting just nine league games due to injury and favor issues. A return to the Bundesliga could be an option for Nkunku, who previously thrived during his spell at RB Leipzig, scoring 70 goals in 172 games and winning both the Bundesliga’s Player of the Season and top-scorer awards.

Despite Bayern’s interest in Nkunku, the club’s focus on loan additions might lead them to explore other options. Nick Woltemade, a target for Bayern, remains out of reach, and the club has also seen several key players depart this summer, including Thomas Muller, Mathys Tel, Kingsley Coman, and Leroy Sane.

Jamal Musiala’s extended absence due to a serious leg injury has also impacted Bayern’s squad dynamics.

RB Leipzig and Inter Milan are among the other clubs interested in signing Nkunku, who is keen on leaving Chelsea after two disappointing seasons. Chelsea are reportedly willing to accept bids around €50 million (£43.39m) for Nkunku, but Bayern’s reluctance to pursue a permanent deal might complicate the transfer.

While Bayern’s decision might not necessarily rule out a loan deal, Nkunku’s preference for a permanent transfer could lead him to explore other options.
