Union Berlin fought hard to frustrate the runaway Bundesliga leaders, but Bayern’s pressure eventually paid off.
Michael Olise’s curled finish from the left flank opened the scoring, and the visitors’ misery was compounded in stoppage time when Frederik Ronnow missed his punch, allowing Serge Gnabry to smash a decisive volley home.
The half-time break offered little respite for Union Berlin, as Bayern continued to press relentlessly. Harry Kane scored with precision, collecting Konrad Laimer’s pass and finding the bottom corner.
Gnabry grabbed his second of the game, beating Ronnow at the near post with sheer power. The result leaves Union Berlin winless in their last 14 head-to-heads with Bayern in the Bundesliga.
Bayern’s dominance was evident throughout the game, with Union Berlin’s defense struggling to cope with the hosts’ relentless pressure. The visitors’ best chance came early on, but Bayern’s goalkeeper Urbig was equal to the task.
The win moves Bayern 12 points clear of Borussia Dortmund, and they remain clear favorites to retain the Bundesliga title.
Union Berlin, on the other hand, are equidistant between the top seven and bottom three, with seven points separating them either way.
