Bayern Munich is considering meeting Dayot Upamecano’s demands for an exit clause to secure a contract extension beyond next summer.
Bayern Munich is reportedly considering giving in to Dayot Upamecano’s demands for a release clause, which would allow the French defender to leave the club for around €65 million.
The two sides have been negotiating a contract extension, with salary and bonuses no longer an issue, but the release clause and its activation date remain a sticking point.
Upamecano wants the release clause to be active from 2027, while Bayern had initially insisted it should only be triggerable a year later, in 2028. However, Bayern is now willing to compromise on this point to avoid losing Upamecano on a free transfer next summer.
The 27-year-old defender has been a key player for Bayern, and his contract extension is seen as crucial for the club’s future plans. Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are monitoring the situation and could make a move for Upamecano if an agreement with Bayern is not reached.
Upamecano’s current contract expires in 2026, and Bayern is keen to secure his services beyond that. The club has proposed an extension until 2030, with a significant pay rise and signing bonus.
According to reports, Upamecano is seeking a salary of around €15-20 million annually, plus bonuses, which would make him one of the highest-paid defenders at the club.
