Bayern Munich defeats Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in Der Klassiker, with Harry Kane and Michael Olise scoring crucial goals to keep Bayern top of the Bundesliga table.
Bayern Munich has maintained their winning start to the Bundesliga season with a 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker.
The match saw Bayern Munich dominate the early stages, with Michael Olise and Joshua Kimmich applying pressure on the Dortmund goal.
Harry Kane broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute, scoring a bullet header from Kimmich’s pinpoint corner. The hosts continued to push for a second goal before the break, with Olise’s effort hitting the post.
Dortmund improved after the restart, with Serhou Guirassy squandering two good chances.
Olise’s efforts finally paid off in the 78th minute, when he slid in to score from Luis Diaz’s low pass. Dortmund pulled one back through Julian Brandt’s sharp near-post volley, but Bayern Munich held on to secure the win.
The result leaves Bayern Munich five points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table, while Dortmund drops to fourth, level on points with Bayer Leverkusen. Bayern has now won nine straight Bundesliga matches, their longest streak since a 14-game run between February and September 2020.
The hosts also snapped an ongoing winless run against their arch-rivals, having failed to beat Dortmund in their three previous meetings.
