Bayern Munich has confirmed the signing of Jonathan Tah after the defender left Bayer Leverkusen.
Bayern Munich has signed Jonathan Tah, a 29-year-old German center-back, from Bayer Leverkusen on a free transfer.
Tah has joined the Bundesliga champions on a four-year contract that will keep him at the Allianz Arena until 2029. He spent 10 seasons with Leverkusen, leading the club to the Bundesliga and German Cup double in 2024.
Tah expressed his enthusiasm about joining Bayern, saying, “I’m very happy to be at Bayern. I want to take on responsibility here and work hard every day so that we’re successful as a team and win lots of trophies together.”
Bayern’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, highlighted Tah’s qualities, stating, “In Tah, we’ve acquired a player with international experience and quality who won’t need much time to establish himself in our defence.”
Tah has won 35 caps for Germany since his debut in 2016 and is part of head coach Julian Nagelsmann’s squad to play Portugal in the semi-finals of the Nations League.
Leverkusen faces the challenge of replacing their longest-serving outfield player, especially with new coach Erik ten Hag after Xabi Alonso’s departure to Real Madrid.
