Bayer Leverkusen To Announce New Head Coach Next Week

Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro expects to announce a new head coach next week, following the departure of Erik Ten Hag.

Bayer Leverkusen is working hard to find a replacement for recently sacked head coach Erik ten Hag. According to CEO Fernando Carro, the club hopes to announce a new coach as early as next week. “We are working hard on it. I hope that we can announce something next week,” Carro said.

This development comes after Ten Hag’s surprise departure from the club, despite leading the team to a strong second-place finish in the Bundesliga last season.

The new coach is expected to possess strong leadership qualities, including the ability to provide clarity and direction. Carro emphasized that the ideal candidate should have substance and be able to lead the team effectively.

While specific names have not been confirmed, the club’s sporting managing director Simon Rolfes will likely play a key role in the selection process.

Reports suggest that a Spanish coach is the frontrunner to take over at Bayer Leverkusen. Although Carro didn’t confirm this, he did hint that Rolfes typically conducts negotiations in German, English, or Spanish.

The departure of Ten Hag has created a vacancy at Bayer Leverkusen, following Xabi Alonso’s exit to Real Madrid. Alonso’s impressive stint at Leverkusen saw the team win the Bundesliga title and DFB-Pokal in the 2023-2024 season. His successor will face high expectations to replicate similar success.

As Bayer Leverkusen continues to search for a new head coach, fans and pundits alike are eagerly anticipating the announcement. With a clear idea of the qualities they seek in a coach, the club is likely to find a suitable replacement soon.
