Bayer Leverkusen are looking to replace Erik ten Hag and has reportedly shortlisted Real Madrid legend Raúl González, along with Marco Rose and Edin Terzić, as potential candidates for the job.

Bayer Leverkusen has parted ways with head coach Erik ten Hag after just two Bundesliga matches, sparking a search for a new manager. According to Spanish media reports, Real Madrid legend Raúl González is among the top contenders for the job.

Raúl, who previously coached Real Madrid’s reserve team, Castilla, is said to be eager to advance his coaching career by taking charge of a top-tier men’s side.

Raúl’s reputation in Germany remains strong, thanks to his previous playing spell at Schalke 04. His experience and success as a player could be valuable assets for Bayer Leverkusen. The 48-year-old has never managed a top-tier team before, but his name has been linked to the Leverkusen job due to his impressive playing career and recent coaching stint with Real Madrid Castilla.

Other candidates being considered for the job include Marco Rose, former coach of Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, and Edin Terzić, who previously managed Borussia Dortmund. Bayer Leverkusen’s management is reportedly holding careful discussions to decide on the next coach, with a decision expected by the end of the week.

The new coach will be tasked with stabilizing the team after a disappointing start to the season. Leverkusen’s management is under pressure to make a strong appointment, given the team’s potential and recent performances. With Raúl, Rose, and Terzić in the running, the club is spoiled for choice.
