Bayer Leverkusen have moved into the Bundesliga’s top six with a narrow 1-0 win over Hamburg, ending a three-game winless streak in all competitions.
Bayer Leverkusen who were desperately seeking a win came close to opening the scoring in the 13th minute, but Martin Terrier’s effort hit the crossbar.
The first half was lackluster ad both team struggled to create chances.
Hamburg’s defence held strong, keeping Leverkusen’s attack at bay for most of the game, but the visitors eventually broke through in the 70th minute.
Christian Kofane scored the winner, firing past Daniel Heuer Fernandes after a chip from Ibrahim Maza.

The win marks Leverkusen’s first away clean sheet in the league this season and moves them to within three points of the top four. They remain sixth, with everything still to play for.
Hamburg, on the other hand, has slipped to successive defeats for the first time since October. They remain 11th, four points above the relegation zone.
