Club president Joan Laporta is “confident” everyone will be registered in time
Barcelona are still working through the process of registering Marcus Rashford ahead of the La Liga opener on 16 August.
The forward is one of several players yet to be cleared for competitive action, including Wojciech Szczesny, Joan Garcia and Roony Bardghji.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta eased the concerns of supporters yesterday, saying the club expect to have the situation resolved in time.
“It’s progressing well,” said Laporta. “We’re doing our job and we’re confident that we’ll be able to register everyone.”
Barcelona have salary limits imposed by La Liga according to the league’s financial sustainability and fair play rules. They must either keep within the limits or acquire additional revenue. The Catalans have struggled to comply with these regulations in recent years.
Rashford said: “It’s something for the club to sort out. I believe they are going to get it sorted. I just focus on training and be ready for the start of the season.”
The summer signing travelled with the squad on their tour of Asia, where he has had some time to get to know his new teammates and get minutes under his belt.
He says he has settled in quickly and is becoming familiar with Hansi Flick’s pattern of play.
“It’s been a good preseason,” said Rashford. “It’s been good to integrate into the team. I’ve enjoyed getting used to the team, used to the coach.
“There is a lot of great players but I knew that before I came here. The quality is very high, the intensity is very high and this is what we need to continue having throughout the season.”
