La Liga representatives satisfied with pace of ongoing work on the stadium following a recent site visit
Barcelona are on track for a return to the Camp Nou in September, with La Liga officials approving the latest developments at the stadium following a recent site visit.
League representatives inspected the ongoing renovations last week and found that construction is progressing at a satisfactory pace, according to Mundo Deportivo. The club are aiming to host their first home fixture back at the redeveloped stadium on the weekend of September 13-14, when Valencia are scheduled to visit in La Liga.
The inspection comes after a prior visit by UEFA delegates in June, which also delivered positive feedback regarding the state of the works.
During the visit, Barcelona executives presented updates on several aspects of the project, including stadium access routes, safety compliance, broadcast infrastructure, and matchday logistics for both teams and officials.
Particular attention was paid to temporary media facilities and camera positions to ensure the stadium meets broadcasting standards for domestic and international coverage.
One key feature close to completion is the new temporary press area at the top of the Grandstand, which is expected to be fully operational in time for the reopening. Inspectors also examined the 475 VIP seats in the First Tier of the Grandstand, which have already been installed and are currently covered for protection from dust while interior works continue around them.
The club remain focused on meeting La Liga’s 1:1 financial fair play rule before the start of the new season. Central to that effort is the €100m agreement for the sale of the commercial operation rights to the VIP seating areas, struck with Fortia Advisor Limited and New Era Visionary Group. That income is expected to be validated by the audit firm Crowe in the coming weeks.
Barcelona have been playing home matches at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys at Montjuic while renovations continue at Camp Nou.
