The Catalan club will start with a partial reopening as work continues on several key parts of the stadium
Barcelona have confirmed they will officially return to the Camp Nou on 10 August, after more than two years away from their historic ground.
The stadium has been closed since March 2023 when the club embarked in an ambitious stadium renovation, forcing the team to play its home games at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys at Montjuic.
While fans will soon return to the iconic venue, the club have said that this is only a partial reopening, and fans will attend games in a limited capacity as work continues on several parts of the stadium.
Key elements of the stadium, including the roof, are still under construction. There is also some work still ongoing on the interior and the surrounding areas.
Despite the ongoing construction, Barcelona are eager to reclaim their home turf. The stadium’s capacity will be limited to between 50,000 and 60,000 when fans return. The team could indeed start the 2025-26 league campaign with three away games to allow a smoother transition back into Camp Nou.
The club’s statement read: “FC Barcelona officially announces its return to its stadium, the Spotify Camp Nou, on August 10, 2025 – a milestone that will mark the partial reopening of the club’s new home as part of the wider Espai Barca transformation project.
“This comeback represents a historic moment for the club and its supporters. After more than two years of major renovations and a temporary relocation to the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium, Barca will once again feel the thrill of football in its legendary temple, in the heart of Les Corts.”
