Catalan club want a physically dominant and attack-minded right-back, and the Inter Milan defender fits the profile

Barcelona are considering a move for Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries but must act before 15 July to meet the player’s €25 million release clause, which is only valid for foreign clubs until that date.

the Dutch international is open to a transfer this summer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, and is in the process of switching agents, with super agent Jorge Mendes expected to take over his representation. Mendes’ involvement could facilitate negotiations, but Barcelona’s financial constraints remain a major obstacle.

The 29-year-old Dumfries has long been on Barcelona’s radar, and his performances against the Spanish club in last season’s Champions League where he scored twice left a strong impression on the sporting department. Barcelona reportedly want a physically dominant and attack-minded right-back, and Dumfries fits the profile.

However, Inter are insisting on the full €25 million being paid upfront, a condition that complicates matters for Barcelona, who remain under pressure to comply with La Liga’s financial rules. The club are still working to resolve wage bill issues and clear room for further incomings.

Inter have made it clear they would prefer to keep Dumfries but are preparing for the possibility of his departure. Dan Ndoye of Bologna has been identified as a potential replacement, although Bologna are demanding €45 million for the Swiss winger, which could scupper a move. Napoli are also tracking Ndoye, potentially driving up the price.
