Barcelona sporting director Deco has had a meeting with Williams’ representatives; Luis Diaz and Marcus Rashford still remain targets but Athletic Club winger preferred

Barcelona sporting director Deco has reopened talks with the camp of Athletic Club winger Nico Williams in an attempt to reignite a long-standing interest in the Spanish international.

Deco recently met with Williams’ agent, Felix Tainta, to explore the possibility of bringing the 22-year-old to Catalonia this summer, according to Sport.

Williams is said to be open to the move, but Barcelona would need to pay his €62m release clause and ensure a smooth registration process, an area the Catalan giants have struggled with in recent transfer windows due to tight financial constraints.

While Arsenal and Bayern Munich have also shown strong interest and are prepared to activate the clause, Williams reportedly prefers to remain in Spain, making Barcelona his top destination if he decides to leave Athletic Club.

Barcelona continue to keep Liverpool’s Luis Diaz at the top of their wishlist, though the Premier League club have made it clear that he is not for sale.

Marcus Rashford is another option for the Catalan club, but the renewed talks with Williams’ camp suggest they may prefer to do a deal for the Spanish winger.
