Striker was previously backed to stay at the club but his recent form means the situation has changed

Barcelona are open to offers for striker Ferran Torres ahead of the summer window. The club’s position on the forward over the past 12 months has not been clear, but mid-season reports that emerged were that Barcelona were impressed with Torres and saw him as a player who could replace Robert Lewandowski if the Poland international left in the summer.

However, Torres’ form has plummeted since. The Spain international scored 13 goals in the first half of the season but has scored only three so far in 2026. Reports are that given his form the situation has changed. Barcelona are instead willing to let go of him this summer and instead raise funds for new signings.

Torres’ contract expires in 2027 but at this stage the club would prefer to lose him than Lewandowski in the summer, especially if they can obtain a decent sum for the 26-year-old.

Lewandowski’s contract runs out in the summer and it was initially thought he would be allowed to leave in order to free up funds for signings. Lewandowski is one of the heavy earners at the club. However, the club are now willing to negotiate a deal to keep the Pole beyond the summer. However, no decision has been made yet.

Barcelona’s top target is Julian Alvarez, although any possibility of the player leaving Atletico Madrid in the summer has been completely shut down by the club.
