Ban will be served at the start of the 2025-26 Champions League campaign
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick and his assistant Marcus Sorg have each been fined €20,000 and suspended for one Uefa club match following misconduct during last season’s Champions League semi-final against Inter Milan.
The sanctions were confirmed by Uefa’s disciplinary committee on Friday. They stem from Flick and Sorg’s conduct after the club lost to Inter at the San Siro and were denied a first Champions League final appearance in ten years.
Flick was furious at a number of refereeing calls during the match, particularly a penalty call that saw him leave his technical area in protest. He was eventually shown a yellow card.
The bans will be served at the start of the 2025-26 Champions League campaign, meaning neither will be on the touchline for Barcelona’s opening group fixture next month.
Uefa also sanctioned two Barcelona players from the same match. Forwards Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski were each fined €5,000 for failing to follow anti-doping protocols after the final whistle. According to Uefa, both players did not report immediately to the designated control post as required.
Barcelona were also fined more than €10,000 for the behaviour of supporters, including throwing objects and setting off fireworks set off in the stands.
