Dispute reportedly concerns payments Barcelona were supposed to receive for the game
Barcelona have pulled out of the Japan leg of their pre-season tour of Asia, citing a “serious breach of contract” by the event promoter.
The friendly against Vissel Kobe in Japan has been cancelled but Barcelona are still willing to play FC Seoul on 31 July and Daegu FC on 4 August, with those matches to be played in South Korea.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the La Liga champions said they were left with no choice after agreements with the organiser were not honoured.
Sources close to the situation have reported that the dispute concerns payments Barcelona were supposed to receive for the game.
The club said they will “consider readjusting the leg of the summer tour in South Korea” and playing the fixtures “if certain conditions are met by the promoter”.
“If these conditions are met, then the Club will travel to South Korea in the coming days,” read the club’s statement.
“FC Barcelona regrets this incident and the impact it will have on the many, many Barça fans in Japan.”
