Raffaele Palladino earned his maiden Serie A victory as Atalanta defeated his former club Fiorentina 2‑0, ending a winless streak and lifting the Bergamo side to 11th.

Raffaele Palladino finally got his breakthrough in Serie A, steering Atalanta to a comfortable 2‑0 win over his former club Fiorentina. The match at the Gewiss Stadium marked the first league triumph for Palladino since taking charge.

Both sides threw themselves into a frantic opening. Inside the first five minutes, Atalanta keeper Marco Carnesecchi denied Moise Kean and then saved brilliantly from Roberto Piccoli on the rebound.

Fiorentina’s David De Gea was also busy, stopping Charles De Ketelaere’s fierce drive in the 13th minute and later thwarting Davide Zappacosta from a tight angle after Ademola Lookman’s slicing pass.

Just before halftime, Odilon Kossounou broke the deadlock. A whipped cross‑shot from the edge of the box caught De Gea off guard, curling into the far corner for Kossounou’s first goal for La Dea. The hosts continued to dominate, with Carnesecchi keeping out Piccoli one‑on‑one and De Gea pushing De Ketelaere wide.

The second half saw Kean waste an immediate chance, volleying straight into Carnesecchi’s arms. Atalanta capitalised on a 51st‑minute corner when Lookman pounced on the loose ball, firing home the second goal.

Fiorentina threw everything at the finish, Kean hitting the post and seeing a header cleared off the line by Gianluca Scamacca, but the Viola could not break down Atalanta’s defence.

The win ended Atalanta’s eight‑game winless run and lifted them to 11th place, while Fiorentina remain second‑bottom (D6, L7) and five points adrift of safety.
