Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has provided a fitness update on key player Bukayo Saka, ahead of Wednesday’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, the Gunners’ boss said that Saka could feature against Palace if he is needed.

“We have to wait and see how he reacts after the next training session,” Arteta told reporters. “But it’s nothing too serious. If we want him to, I think he will have a good chance to play tomorrow.”

The England international was subbed off before the hour mark in Sunday’s 4-0 win over Ipswich Town at Portman Road, following a dangerous tackle that caught his heel and saw Ipswich’s Leif Davis sent off. However, Arteta said after the game that he was only “a bit sore” and it was “nothing serious”.

With Saka able to feature against Palace on Wednesday, Arsenal supporters will be much relieved. Despite a three-month absence due to injury this season, the Gunners’ key man has scored 11 goals and provided 14 assists in all competitions. The club will be hoping he remains fit ahead of the club’s crucial clash against Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
