Mikel Arteta praises Arsenal’s dominant performance against Brighton, highlighting the team’s spirit and willingness to win despite injuries and challenges.
Mikel Arteta is beaming with pride after Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Brighton, which returned them to the top of the Premier League table. Martin Odegaard’s first goal of the season and a Georginio Rutter own goal secured the victory.
Arteta praised his team’s dominant display, saying, “I thought we were very dominant throughout the game. We generated so many chances, so many big situations, and I think we did a lot of great things.”
Despite injuries to Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori, Arsenal’s squad depth and adaptability shone through, with Declan Rice impressing at right-back. Arteta gapped, “When Declan is on as a right full-back, it’s just unbelievable, and I’m so proud of them”
Odegaard’s performance was also standout, with Arteta calling it “probably the best game that he’s had this season”.
Arteta emphasized the team’s resilience, saying, “We’re going to need everybody, some who are in a different position and to go through what we are going through in the manner that we are performing.”
The win puts Arsenal back on top, but Arteta knows more challenges lie ahead, with Aston Villa coming to the Emirates on December 30. “The way the boys are performing and getting results in this incredible schedule, with the injuries that we’ve gone through, it’s remarkable,” he said.
