Mikel Arteta reflects on Arsenal’s transformation under his leadership, emphasising the need for a major trophy to seal their progress.

With a strengthened squad and new signing Viktor Gyökeres, Arteta is optimistic about the season ahead.

Mikel Arteta’s tenure as Arsenal manager has been marked by significant progress, with the team consistently finishing near the top of the Premier League table. However, despite their impressive performances, Arteta acknowledges that the one thing still missing is a major trophy. “I give my passion, my energy, my knowledge and everything I have to give to this club,” Arteta said. “I believe we have transformed this club from where it was to where it is today.”

The transformation Arteta speaks of is evident in the team’s performances over the past three years. Arsenal has scored the second-most points in the Premier League during this period, with only Manchester City amassing more points.

Despite the progress, Arteta knows that it’s silverware that ultimately seals legacies. “We still need to win a major title,” he said. “That’s what we’re missing, because the rest is done.” The connection with the fans has changed, and Arsenal is now one of the best teams in Europe, but Arteta believes that they need to seal their achievement with a trophy.

The summer transfer window has seen Arteta reinforce his squad with six new arrivals, including Viktor Gyökeres, who joins from Sporting CP.

Gyökeres has already generated significant excitement among Arsenal fans, with his shirt sales reportedly smashing club records for a new signing. Arteta is confident that Gyökeres will cope with the pressure of playing for Arsenal, citing his impressive statistics and personality.

Arteta’s optimism about the season ahead is palpable. “It’s going to be an exciting season, just look at the level of all the teams, of the league in general,” he said. With a deeper and more talented squad than in previous years, Arteta believes that Arsenal has the potential to challenge for major honours.
