Mikel Arteta has vowed to make further signings in the transfer market, hinting at more new arrivals joining Arsenal’s preseason tour to Asia as talks continue with Sporting CP over Viktor Gyökeres.
Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Arsenal will continue to make signings in the transfer market, with the goal of improving the squad’s depth and quality.
The Gunners have already made a few signings, including Martín Zubimendi, Christian Nørgaard, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Noni Madueke, who are all part of the 30-man squad traveling to Asia for preseason friendlies.
Arsenal is currently in negotiations with Sporting CP over a potential move for Viktor Gyökeres, with an initial fee of around €63m agreed, plus €10m in performance-related add-ons.
Arteta hinted that more signings could be on the way, saying that the club is “constantly looking in the market” and that they are “short” in terms of numbers.
The Gunners are also closing in on a move worth around £17m for Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera. Arteta believes that the squad is convinced they can win something this season, and he’s focused on working on the details to take the team to the next level.
Arteta expressed his satisfaction with the players he’s seen in training over the past 10-15 days, but he’s eager to bring in new faces to shake things up and bring new energy to the team. He believes that the new signings will help the team achieve their goals and make a strong push for silverware.
Arsenal’s preseason tour of Asia will see them play friendlies against AC Milan, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur. The team landed in Singapore on Sunday, but their first training session was delayed due to heavy rainstorms in the area.
The Gunners are looking to end a five-year wait for silverware after finishing second in each of the past three Premier League seasons. Arteta is confident that the team has the talent and the drive to make a strong push for the title this season.
