Arsenal suffered a shocking loss to Bournemouth in the Premier League. This loss comes after their midweek loss to PSG in the UEFA Champions League.

The Gunners would’ve hoped to bounce back against Bournemouth, but the script didn’t go as expected.

Despite taking the lead through Declan Rice, who marked his 100th appearance with a well-taken goal in the 34th minute, the Gunners were unable to maintain their advantage.

Bournemouth responded in the second half, with Dean Huijsen equalizing in the 67th minute and Evanilson scoring the winner in the 75th minute. The latter goal was subject to a lengthy VAR review for a potential handball but was ultimately allowed to stand due to a lack of conclusive evidence.

This defeat marked Bournemouth’s first-ever away victory against Arsenal and completed their first league double over the Gunners.

In terms of the league standings, Arsenal remain in second place with 67 points from 34 matches.

However, their position is now under threat, with Manchester City closing the gap and other teams vying for Champions League qualification.

The Gunners’ recent form, including this loss, raises concerns about their ability to secure a top-four finish.

Looking ahead, the Gunners face a challenging schedule, including a crucial Champions League semi-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain. The team’s current form and defensive issues will need to be addressed promptly to maintain their ambitions both domestically and in Europe.
