Arsenal has made a significant move to secure the future of teenage sensation Max Dowman, reaching an agreement with the 15-year-old midfielder on a scholarship contract. This deal will tie Dowman to the Gunners until he’s 17, with a professional contract set to follow.

Dowman is regarded as one of England’s brightest young players, impressing with his displays for Arsenal’s youth teams and earning comparisons to Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal from teammate Cristhian Mosquera.

The midfielder’s loyalty and family ties played a big role in his decision to commit to Arsenal, despite interest from top European clubs.

A lifelong Arsenal supporter, Dowman’s family was instrumental in negotiations, with his father playing a key role.

Arsenal has a strong track record of nurturing academy players, with Bukayo Saka, Ethan Nwaneri, and Myles Lewis-Skelly all making successful transitions to the senior squad. Dowman is seen as next in line to follow this route, with coaches at Hale End eager to oversee his development.

Dowman made history last season, becoming Arsenal’s second-youngest player in the Premier League, and has already made three first-team appearances this season. He represented England’s Under-17 side at the 2025 European Championship and recently scored for the Under-19 squad.

The scholarship deal will run for two years, giving Arsenal control over Dowman’s development until he’s eligible to sign a professional contract on his 17th birthday.
