Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta emphasizes the need for energy and aggression as his team faces Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has stressed the importance of carrying over the energy and aggression from their North London derby win over Tottenham to their upcoming Champions League match against Bayern Munich.
“We do, and we have to carry on that energy, and we play with the same dominance and aggression and efficiency,” Arteta said, emphasizing the need for a strong performance against the German champions.
Bayern Munich, led by Vincent Kompany, has enjoyed an impressive start to the season, winning 10 out of 11 games in the Bundesliga. However, Arsenal is coming off a convincing 4-1 win over Tottenham, with Eberechi Eze scoring a hat-trick.
Arteta was asked if beating Bayern would make Arsenal part of the European elite, despite never winning a Champions League title. “I don’t know, you talk about performances and consistency, hopefully yes,” he replied. “But we have never won the Champions League in our history; they have six.”
The Arsenal boss also highlighted the challenge of stopping Bayern’s top players, including Harry Kane and Michael Olise, who have been in excellent form this season. “For sure, and this is the kind of game in the competition that we want to face,” Arteta said.
Arsenal’s squad depth will be crucial in the upcoming matches, and Arteta confirmed that rotation is key to avoiding fatigue and further injuries. “It is, and it has to be, and thank God that we have improved the depth of the squad compared to previous seasons,” he said.
With both teams enjoying a strong start to the season, the match promises to be an exciting encounter.
