Mikel Arteta provided updates on his players as Arsenal face Brighton at Emirates Stadium this evening.
Arsenal resume their title bid against Brighton at the Emirates Stadium, with several injury concerns looming. Mikel Arteta’s side was two points clear at the top of the Premier League at Christmas, but Manchester City is closing in.
Here’s the latest on Arsenal’s injury updates:
Gabriel has missed nine games since suffering an adductor injury in November and is still not back in training. Arteta is unsure when he’ll return, saying “We have to wait and see.”
Kai Havertz is closing in on a return, having missed the season’s opening match due to a knee injury. Arteta says he’s “quite close” and could play against Brighton.
Gabriel Martinelli was injured against Crystal Palace and is being assessed. Arteta played down concerns, saying it’s a “more of a knock.”
Piero Hincapie is expected to return against Brighton, having missed the Palace game with an injury. Riccardo Calafiori shifted to centre-back in his absence.
Ben White is sidelined with a hamstring injury, but it’s not as bad as feared. He could return soon, possibly against Aston Villa on December 30.
Cristhian Mosquera has a “complicated” ankle injury and is out for weeks, possibly until mid-January.
Max Dowman has an ankle ligament injury and is out until at least February, with no surgery required.
