Arsenal is closing in on a deal to sign Valencia’s talented defender Cristhian Mosquera for under £16.2 million, with talks between the two clubs described as “very advanced”.

Arsenal are making significant progress in its pursuit of Valencia’s highly rated defender, Cristhian Mosquera.

The Gunners are aiming to finalize a deal worth less than £16.2 million, with personal terms not expected to be a major issue. Talks between the two clubs are described as “very advanced”, paving the way for Mosquera to join the Emirates Stadium outfit.

Mosquera, a 20-year-old Spanish defender, has been in outstanding form, boasting an impressive fitness record and missing only three La Liga games over the last two seasons.

He has made 90 appearances for Valencia and has won 70% of his ground duels in the recent league campaign, the highest percentage for any player in La Liga with over 100 contested duels.

The young defender’s versatility is a significant asset, allowing him to play on both the left and right sides of the defense.

He has demonstrated his ability to operate at right-back, providing valuable flexibility to Arsenal’s defensive lineup. With Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba forming the first-choice defensive partnership, Mosquera would likely serve as a reliable backup.

Arsenal’s sporting director, Andrea Berta, has played a pivotal role in the transfer, utilizing his expertise to drive negotiations forward. Mosquera has reportedly given his green light to the move, and Arsenal is confident about agreeing on a package. The focus now shifts to bolstering the attack with a marquee striker and winger.
