Arsenal’s transfer talks with Sporting CP for Viktor Gyokeres have stalled, with the transfer in jeopardy due to a €5 million valuation gap between the two clubs.
Arsenal’s pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres has hit a snag, with the transfer talks between the Gunners and Sporting CP failing to make progress.
Despite two days of discussions, no agreement has been reached, and the transfer is now in jeopardy. The next few hours will be crucial in determining whether the deal will go through.
The main stumbling block is the valuation of Gyokeres, with Arsenal offering €65 million as a fixed fee plus €5 million and €10 million in add-ons.
However, Sporting CP is demanding at least €70 million as a fixed package with €10 million in add-ons. The €5 million gap in valuations has proved difficult to bridge, and it’s unclear whether Arsenal will be able to meet Sporting CP’s demands.
Gyokeres has given the green light for the move to Arsenal, and the player is reportedly willing to forgo possible loyalty bonuses of around €2 million to facilitate a transfer. The Swedish striker has been patiently waiting for Arsenal, despite the club’s initial preference for signing Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
Arsenal’s talks with RB Leipzig and Sesko’s camp have been ongoing, but the club has shifted its focus to Gyokeres due to difficulties in finding an agreement. With the squad set to travel for pre-season training in Asia on July 19, Arsenal hopes to sort out the valuation gap with Sporting CP before then.
