Gunners consider £5 million release clause to sign Chelsea ace

Arsenal are poised to sign a new goalkeeper this summer, with Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga emerging as a potential target.

The 30-year-old Spaniard has a release clause worth £5 million, which Arsenal is considering triggering. Kepa spent the previous season on loan with Bournemouth, where he had a solid campaign, keeping eight clean sheets in the Premier League.

During his time with the Cherries, Kepa made an impressive 97 saves in the English top flight, with a success rate of 71 percent. He also impressed with his distribution, conceding only two goals from shots outside the box.

This potential weakness was one of the few areas where Kepa showed vulnerability, but his overall performance was strong.

The move comes after Arsenal’s failed attempt to sign Espanyol’s Joan Garcia, who wanted a guarantee of regular playing time that the Gunners couldn’t provide.

Sporting director Andrea Berta may have proposed Arrizabalaga as an alternative, given his experience and potential. With David Raya as the first-choice goalkeeper, Arsenal is looking to strengthen its goalkeeping depth.
