Arsenal is reportedly the main candidate to sign Sevilla midfielder Lucien Agoume in the January transfer window.
Arsenal is set to make a strong bid for Sevilla’s talented midfielder Lucien Agoume in the January transfer window.
The Gunners have been monitoring the 23-year-old’s progress and are impressed by his performances in La Liga. Agoume had a breakthrough season with Sevilla last year, making 35 appearances and catching the eye with several standout performances.
According to reports, Arsenal initially considered signing Agoume before opting for Christian Norgaard.
However, if Agoume continues to impress, the Gunners may step up their interest in the Frenchman. Agoume has been in excellent form this season, registering one goal and one assist in seven outings for Sevilla.
The midfielder’s versatility and tireless work rate have drawn comparisons to N’Golo Kante. Agoume has averaged four recoveries, two tackles, and two clearances per game, while winning almost 60% of his aerial challenges.
Sevilla is looking to restructure their squad and may be willing to sell Agoume if they receive a suitable offer. The club’s financial concerns could work in Arsenal’s favor, with reports suggesting that Sevilla may accept an offer of around £25m for the midfielder. This would be a bargain deal considering his release clause is worth £35m.
Christian Norgaard, who was signed as a short-term replacement for Thomas Partey and Jorginho, has admitted that he plans to return to Brondby after his stint with Arsenal. This could pave the way for Agoume to join the Gunners in the future.
