Robert Andrich scored the winner as Bayer Leverkusen beat Borussia Dortmund 1-0, boosting their Champions League hopes and climbing to fifth in the Bundesliga.
Bayer Leverkusen boosted their hopes of securing a UEFA Champions League spot with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund. The result also handed Dortmund just their second home defeat in 15 Bundesliga matches this season.
The decisive moment came from Robert Andrich, whose first-half strike proved enough to separate the two sides. His goal ensured Leverkusen climbed to fifth place, moving within touching distance of the top four.

Dortmund had entered the game in strong form, with four consecutive league wins putting them in a comfortable position. While their title ambitions appear out of reach, they remain well clear of the chasing pack.
The match began slowly, with neither side managing a shot on target in the opening stages. Dortmund came closest to breaking the deadlock when Loïc Badé cleared Daniel Svensson’s effort off the line. Despite recent high-scoring encounters involving Leverkusen, this contest lacked attacking fluency, with both teams limited to speculative efforts from distance. Clear-cut chances were few and far between.
The breakthrough eventually arrived before halftime when Andrich won possession and unleashed a low drive that found the far corner, giving the visitors a crucial lead.
Dortmund pushed for an equaliser after the break, with Serhou Guirassy striking the underside of the crossbar late on. Julian Brandt also came close in stoppage time, but Leverkusen held firm.
While the defeat does little to dent Dortmund’s strong position in second place, it carries huge significance for Leverkusen. The victory marks their second consecutive league win and moves them to within one point of the top four, reigniting their push for Champions League qualification.
