The United boss has “an idea” regarding incomings and outgoings, but wants current players to change his mind
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has made it clear that every player in the squad still has a window of opportunity to convince him that they can remain at the club.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the match against Bournemouth on Sunday, Amorim told reporters that while he already know who he wants to stay or go this summer, nothing is set in stone.
“I have an idea. That is clear because we have to do things early [in the window], but things can change before the end of the season,” said Amorim.
The players apparently still have everything to play for between now and the final whistle of the campaign. Amorim gave Casemiro as an example of a player who has flipped the script in recent weeks.
“Casemiro was a player who wasn’t playing and then, you see the last games, he’s having a part and is performing quite well and playing all the time,” Amorim said.
The Brazilian has stayed on the bench for a large part of the season, but in recent games he has returned to the squad and made significant impact, notably as the creator of the two goals that saw United manage an outrageous 5-4 comeback victory against Lyon in the Europa League quarter-finals.
“I like to change my mind,” said his manager, Amorim, “and if they change my mind, I’m really happy with that. I just want to win and put the best players in my team.”
