Manchester United manager is reminding club hierarchy of the work needed at the club, says former Villa player

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is “clever” to speak honestly on how bad Manchester United have been this season, according to former Aston Villa player Gabriel Agbonlahor.

Amorim has been brutally honest in his assessments of his side’s performances this season. United have lost 16 games this season and sit 16th in the table, only two places above teams that have been relegated, and in his press conferences the head coach hasn’t shied away from that fact.

Agbonlahor said that the Portuguese wants to remind the club’s hierarchy of the amount of work that needs to be done at the club.

“He’s been clever, the manager, he’s been honest so that the owners don’t get carried away with them winning the Europa League,” said Agbonlahor on talkSPORT.

Amorim has previously said that his side were one of the worst Manchester United teams in the club’s history. When asked whether a Europa League win would save the club’s awful season, the 40-year-old said that it would only make them “the worst team in Premier League history with a European title”.

“He knows they still need a lot of players in and a lot of players out for next season,” said Agbonlahor. “Otherwise, they will embarrass the country in the Champions League.”
