Premier League legend William Gallas believes that De Bruyne’s passing abilities will make a difference at clubs in Europe or Saudi Arabia

Former Arsenal and Chelsea defender William Gallas has backed Kevin de Bruyne to make an impactful move this summer to any club of his choice.

The 33-year-old Belgian announced earlier in April that he would be leaving Manchester City after a 10-year stay at the club. In that time, De Bruyne’s incredible vision on the pitch has moved fans to give him the title “Assist King”.

Speaking in an interview with Slingo, Gallas heaped praise on the Belgian for his performances.

“The guy scores so many goals, gets so many assists,” he said. “His passing is unbelievable and he’s a very clever player.

“I didn’t play against him but I’ve seen he has the second-most assists in Premier League history. You put Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of everyone but he is one of the very best players behind those two.

“He’s a different profile but if you compare him with players known for their assists, he’s right up there.”

Asked where De Bruyne could go to next, Gallas said that it was up to the midfielder in terms of what he wanted in the closing stages of his career.

“Maybe he could go [to Bayern Munich]. If he wants to win more trophies, he could go there.

“If he still wants to play in the Premier League, why not? No way he’ll go to Liverpool, Manchester United or Arsenal. Even if he knows Mikel Arteta, he can’t go there. It will be hard to manage two playmakers and I’m sure he has some offers.

“Maybe he could go to Chelsea, why not? But he has to be sure. He might want to go somewhere that he knows he can win trophies. So, that would all depend on Chelsea’s recruitment of a striker.”

De Bruyne has said that he is yet to decide on his next move, with the midfielder open to any project that is good for him, including in the Premier League. However, Gallas also believes that with his skills the Belgian could make a huge impact at Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, where Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane now play.

“It would be great for Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane,” said the Frenchman. “It would be great for the club. I know that the club are desperate to win the league, so it would be a very positive thing for them.

“It would definitely help Ronaldo score 1000 goals because De Bruyne’s vision is amazing. I’m sure Ronaldo would love to play alongside him.”
