Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies is nearing a comeback from a thigh muscle injury, completing parts of team training and closing in on a return to action.

Alphonso Davies has made significant progress in his recovery from a torn thigh muscle, completing large parts of Bayern Munich’s team training session on Thursday.

The Canadian speedster is a step closer to returning to action, but won’t be available for Friday’s match against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Vincent Kompany, Bayern’s coach, confirmed Davies’ progress, but ruled him out of the Gladbach game. The decision is no surprise, given the team’s busy schedule and the need to manage Davies’ return.

Bayern Munich have five games in 16 days, including a Champions League last-16 tie against Atalanta.

With Bayern’s busy schedule, Davies’ return will be eagerly anticipated. He’s a key player for the team, and his speed and skill will be a boost to this Bayern team
