Massimiliano Allegri believes Milan learned a “lesson in maturity” in their 1-1 draw against Genoa, acknowledging his team’s lack of patience in breaking down the stubborn visitors.

Genoa’s Lorenzo Colombo opened the scoring, but Rafael Leao’s 92nd-minute equalizer rescued a point for AC Milan.

Allegri praised Genoa’s defensive strategy, saying they were “very good at shutting us down.” AC Milan created chances but conceded a goal and struggled to capitalize on their dominance. In the second half, Genoa dropped their intensity, and AC Milan increased theirs. However, Allegri emphasized the need for patience against low-block teams to avoid counterattacks.

“We didn’t have enough patience, we were too hasty,” Allegri said, adding that haste leads nowhere. He urged his team to improve maturity to achieve their top-four goal. The draw leaves Milan three points shy of Inter, who lead Serie A. Allegri stressed staying calm and preparing for upcoming matches, including the trip to Florence.

Allegri praised Leao’s performance, saying he “was always in the game” despite not being at his best physically. Leao’s late goal showcased his impact.
