Goalkeeper is expected to rejoin Arne Slot’s squad once they return to Britain

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has left the club’s pre-season tour of Asia due to a personal matter and will miss Wednesday’s friendly against Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan.

The 32-year-old was absent from Liverpool’s open training session on Tuesday at the JFA Dream Field in Tokyo, and it was later confirmed that the club had granted him permission to return home.

Alisson is expected to rejoin Arne Slot’s squad once they return to Britain later this week.

With Alisson unavailable, summer signing Giorgi Mamardashvili is set to start in goal for Liverpool’s final match of the tour. The Georgian international joined from Valencia earlier this summer.

Slot also has young options in Freddie Woodman, Armin Pecsi, and Kornel Misciur, all of whom remain with the team in Japan.

Liverpool will be wrapping up their pre-season trip in Tokyo, having arrived in Japan on Sunday following a 4-2 defeat to AC Milan in Hong Kong.

Their meeting with J1 League side Yokohama F. Marinos at the Nissan Stadium will conclude the club’s Asia tour before heading back to England.

Alisson was the third Liverpool player to leave the tour early. Joe Gomez returned to Merseyside last week for further assessment on an Achilles injury, while Luis Diaz was given permission to travel to Germany and finalise his transfer to Bayern Munich.
