The AC Milan vs Como Serie A match in Perth, Australia, has been given the green light after concerns over referee appointments were resolved.

The proposed Serie A match between AC Milan and Como in Perth, Australia, will go ahead as planned, Serie A President Ezio Simonelli confirmed on Friday.

The match, scheduled for February 8, was previously in doubt due to concerns over conditions imposed by the Asian Football Confederation.

Italian media reported that Serie A had raised concerns over unacceptable conditions, including the appointment of Asian Federation referees. However, Simonelli stated that these issues have been resolved, thanks to discussions with former top Italian referee Pierluigi Collina.

“We had doubts over some conditions, particularly using Asian Federation referees,” Simonelli explained. “But Collina reassured us on the quality of the Asian referees, and we have overcome that obstacle.”

The Italian FA approved Serie A’s request to move the Milan-Como fixture to Perth due to San Siro’s unavailability for the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics opening ceremony. UEFA had previously cleared the match, along with LaLiga’s plan to stage a league game in Miami.
