AC Milan has rejected Newcastle United’s €30m offer for centre-back Malick Thiaw, with coach Massimiliano Allegri keen on keeping the 23-year-old defender.

According to reports, Allegri is fond of Thiaw and would ideally like to keep him at the San Siro, despite numerous links to a potential departure this summer.

Allegri’s preference for a back three in Milan’s formation could lead to more game time for Thiaw, who is capable of playing in multiple roles across the back line. The Rossoneri’s relative lack of depth in the centre-back position also makes Thiaw an important asset for the team.

While Newcastle’s offer has been rejected, it’s possible that the Magpies could return with an improved bid for Thiaw. The centre-back has been linked with several teams in Serie A, including Como and Juventus, but Allegri’s growing interest in keeping him on board could sway the decision.

Thiaw’s versatility and potential make him a valuable asset for AC Milan. As the team prepares for the new season, Allegri will be keen to utilize Thiaw’s skills and experience to maximum effect. If Milan can retain Thiaw, it could be a significant boost to their defensive lineup.
