AC Milan added a new twist to the Serie A title race as they defeated city rivals Inter Milan 1-0 in the Derby della Madonnina.

The match began with Inter dominating possession, but Maignan was equal to the task, making crucial saves to keep Milan in the game.

Marcus Thuram’s diving header and Francesco Acerbi’s powerful header rattled the post, but Milan held firm. AC Milan had chances of their own as Pulisic’s speculative long-range strike narrowly missed the target.

AC Milan broke the deadlock nine minutes into the second half, when Pulisic pounced on a rebound from Alexis Saelemaekers’ shot to score the only goal of the match.

Inter pushed hard for an equalizer, but Maignan was in inspired form, saving Calhanoglu’s penalty and preserving Milan’s lead

The win moves Milan up to second place in the table, above Inter, who have dropped to fourth. Milan’s unbeaten run in the derby now stretches to six games, with four wins and two draws.

Manager Massimiliano Allegri praised his team’s performance, highlighting their ability to capitalize on opportunities and defend resolutely.

“We created a lot of scoring chances, and we met an incredible goalkeeper tonight,” Thuram said, acknowledging Maignan’s heroics.

Maignan’s penalty save was a turning point in the match, and he was named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
