AC Milan is annoyed with the USMNT for risking Christian Pulisic’s health in a friendly against Australia.
AC Milan is fuming with the USMNT over Christian Pulisic’s hamstring injury, which he picked up during a friendly match against Australia. The Italian club feels the USMNT unnecessarily risked Pulisic’s health, given his pre-existing ankle discomfort.
Pulisic had been struggling with ankle issues before the international break and didn’t train at his best leading up to the friendly. Despite this, Mauricio Pochettino started him in the match, and he lasted only 30 minutes before coming off with the hamstring injury.
Reports suggest Pulisic could miss 3-4 weeks of Serie A and Champions League action, leaving Milan without their leading goalscorer. The club is reportedly irritated with Pochettino’s decision, feeling he prioritized the friendly over Pulisic’s well-being.
Milan will now rely on Christopher Nkunku to partner Santiago Gimenez in their upcoming Serie A match against Fiorentina. This is a significant blow for the Rossoneri, who were counting on Pulisic’s contributions.
Pulisic’s injury is another setback in a series of fitness issues he’s faced. His heavy workload over the past two seasons has raised concerns about his durability.
This also brings more concerns for AC Milan who will be without Rafael Leão after he pulled out of Portugal’s squad during the international break. Leão has missed much of the action since his injury against Bari in the Coppa Italia and despite returning a few weeks ago to full fitness, he seems to be struggling.
Pulisic’s and Leão’s situation is bad news for AC Milan but the Rossoneri faithful will be hoping that both players can return in time to help the team continue building momentum.
