AC Milan is considering signing striker Viktor Gyokeres, despite the challenge of meeting Sporting’s €60-65m asking price. The Rossoneri need a striker to complement Santiago Gimenez.

AC Milan is prioritizing the signing of a striker this summer, and Viktor Gyokeres has emerged as a top target.

With Tammy Abraham and Luka Jovic out of the picture, and Francesco Camarda set to go out on loan, Milan needs a striker who can play alongside or alternate with Santiago Gimenez. Gyokeres’s impressive form, scoring 54 goals in 2024-25, makes him an attractive signing, but Milan knows it’s an ambitious project.

The main obstacle is the transfer fee, with Sporting reportedly seeking €60-65m for Gyokeres’s departure. Milan’s ideal scenario would be if Gyokeres remains on the market until August, allowing them to negotiate a deal within their budget.

While the salary wouldn’t be an issue, with Milan willing to offer €5-6m per year, the transfer fee remains a significant hurdle. However, with no major European clubs in advanced talks, Gyokeres might still be available.

If Gyokeres proves too expensive, Milan has alternatives, such as Mateo Retegui. The Argentine striker was the top scorer in Serie A last season, and his signing would undoubtedly improve Milan’s attack. Atalanta’s asking price of €50m is negotiable, making Retegui a viable option for the Rossoneri.

Milan’s pursuit of a striker will depend on various factors, including the availability and price of their targets.

With RedBird’s financial backing, Milan can make a serious push for a top striker. Whether they opt for Gyokeres or Retegui, the goal is to strengthen their attack and make a strong push for trophies in the upcoming season.
