AC Milan are considering a sensational January move for 41-year-old centre-back Thiago Silva, who could bring leadership and stability to their defence.
AC Milan is weighing up a surprise return for former defender Thiago Silva, 13 years after he last played for the club. The 41-year-old Brazilian is currently at Fluminense and has been in excellent form, making 41 appearances and scoring three goals this year.
Milan’s interest in Silva is driven by their need for an experienced centre-back, with Jan-Carlo Odogu potentially leaving on loan in January. The club’s current defensive lineup includes Matteo Gabbia, Strahinja Pavlović, Fikayo Tomori, and Koni De Winter, but they’re looking to add more depth.
Silva’s leadership and experience would be a huge asset to Milan, and his relationship with coach Massimiliano Allegri could make the move more likely. The Brazilian veteran has been impressive in his current role at Fluminense, helping the team reach the Club World Cup semifinals.
According to reports, Milan is considering offering Silva a six-month contract, with the option to extend for another season. Silva’s current contract with Fluminense runs until June 2026, and he’s open to discussing a move.
However, Silva’s agent, Paulo Tonietto, has shut down the possibility of a January return, stating that his client will honor his contract with Fluminense until 2026.
Despite this, Milan’s interest in Silva remains, and they may revisit the possibility of signing him in the summer.
