AC Milan eased to a dominant 3-0 win away at Bologna to cut Inter’s Serie A lead to five points.

AC Milan continued their push for the Serie A title with a commanding 3-0 victory away to Bologna, cutting Inter’s lead at the top of the table to five points.

With both Napoli and city rivals Inter having secured wins earlier in the weekend, AC Milan knew there was little margin for error. Bologna, meanwhile, entered the contest in poor form, having managed just one win in their previous 10 league matches, a run that had already raised concerns around their European ambitions.

Fresh from a morale-boosting 3-0 success over Maccabi Tel Aviv in the UEFA Europa League, Bologna started brightly and tested AC Milan early on. However, the visitors remained composed, content to absorb pressure and wait patiently for openings rather than forcing the tempo.

That approach paid dividends midway through the first half. Christopher Nkunku’s diving header was parried into danger, where Adrien Rabiot reacted quickest before slipping a simple pass to Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who made no mistake with a composed finish to open the scoring.

AC Milan tightened their grip on the match and doubled their advantage 10 minutes before the break. Nkunku was brought down in the penalty area by Bologna goalkeeper Federico Ravaglia, and after a lengthy VAR review, the French forward stepped up to calmly convert from the spot.

Any hopes of a Bologna response after half-time were quickly extinguished by a moment of carelessness. Juan Miranda’s loose throw-in gifted possession to Rabiot, who nodded the ball into his own path before expertly firing past Ravaglia to make it 3-0 and effectively end the contest.

With the points secured for AC Milan, Bologna slipped to a third straight league defeat. AC Milan continue their strong run at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, having now lost just once in their last 20 league visits, keeping the Scudetto race very much alive.
