Ticket sales open in October, with prices ranging from $60 for early group-stage fixtures to $6,730 for the final

The 2026 Fifa World Cup will be the first edition to use a dynamic pricing system, the world football governing body has confirmed.

Dynamic ticketing means that costs will fluctuate depending on demand. Hence prices could shoot up as interest begins to peak.

Fifa officials have in fact urged fans to act quickly once the first purchase window opens, with the tournament’s chief operating officer Heimo Schirgi saying the message is to “get your tickets early because anything could happen”.

Ticket sales for the World Cup will open next month, with prices ranging from $60 for early group-stage fixtures to $6,730 for the final.

While dynamic pricing could mean that ticket costs go up due to high demand, they can also come down if there is low demand.

The method has already been trialled by Fifa during this summer’s Club World Cup, when tickets for the semi-final and final dropped drastically in an attempt to fill seats.

Fifa officials say the same model will apply in 2026, with prices able to rise or fall throughout the sales process.

The tournament, hosted across 16 cities in the United States, Mexico and Canada, is the first to feature 48 teams and 104 matches. It will run from 11 June to 19 July 2026, with the final staged at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The initial ticket draw begins on 10 September and runs through 19 September. Selected applicants will be notified from 29 September and assigned purchase windows starting 1 October. Fans will be limited to four tickets per match and a maximum of 40 across the competition to combat touting.

The 2026 World Cup is only the second edition to be hosted by more than one country, with the first being the 2002 edition held in South Korea and Japan.

The United States, Canada and Mexico have all received automatic qualification as the host nations. They will also play all their group games on home soil.
