Tottenham Hotspur has announced its squad for the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League, with Yves Bissouma and five other players left out due to UEFA’s restrictions on non-homegrown players.

Tottenham Hotspur has confirmed its 25-player squad for the League Phase of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League. Unfortunately for Yves Bissouma, the Malian midfielder is among six players excluded from the squad. Bissouma’s omission is largely due to UEFA’s rules requiring clubs to have at least eight locally trained players in their squads.

The arrival of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig for €52 million further complicated matters for Spurs’ manager Thomas Frank, who had to make tough decisions to meet UEFA’s regulations. Other notable players left out include Kota Takai, Radu Dragusin, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Mathys Tel, with injuries being a contributing factor for some.

Bissouma’s future at Tottenham Hotspur remains uncertain, with potential moves to Turkey or Greece still on the table. The transfer window in these countries remains open until September 12, which could accelerate his departure from the London club.

Advanced negotiations with Galatasaray had previously led to agreed personal terms, but the move ultimately fell through.

The Spurs squad will face a challenging group stage schedule, featuring Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, Villarreal, Eintracht Frankfurt, Bodo/Glimt, Slavia Prague, AS Monaco, and FC Copenhagen.
