Inter Milan’s vice-president, Javier Zanetti, is urging the club to use their Champions League final defeat to PSG as motivation for their upcoming season.

Inter Milan’s vice-president, Javier Zanetti, has called on the club to channel the disappointment of last season’s 5-0 Champions League final defeat to PSG into motivation as they prepare for a fresh European campaign.

Speaking after the draw for the league phase, Zanetti emphasized the importance of looking forward under new head coach Cristian Chivu. The Nerazzurri will face a challenging schedule, taking on Liverpool, Arsenal, Slavia Prague, and Kairat Almaty at home, while traveling to play Dortmund, Atlético Madrid, Ajax, and Union SG away.

Zanetti acknowledged that losing heavily to PSG in the final was a bitter blow, but he believes the experience should not define Inter’s future.

Reaching the final was a significant achievement for Inter, and Zanetti is confident that the club will learn from the experience and come back stronger.

“We start again with great enthusiasm, with a new head coach and a new journey,” he said. “Reaching the final was a huge achievement, even if it ended badly. Football teaches us that there are always new goals. This is a new season in a competition we love, and we will try to honor it as we always have, aiming to go as far as possible.”

Zanetti’s focus is on the new season and the potential of the team under Chivu’s leadership. He revealed that he had long believed Chivu would become a coach, citing his intelligence and exceptional team spirit as key qualities that would serve him well in the role.

The former Inter captain expressed his support for Chivu, saying that it is up to the club to give him everything he needs for a strong season both in Italy and Europe. He believes that the Romanian coach has the potential to lead Inter to great things.
