Tottenham Hotspur are set to raise their offer for Como’s Nico Paz after their initial €40m bid was rejected.
Tottenham Hotspur are gearing up to submit an improved offer for Nico Paz, the talented Argentine midfielder who impressed in his debut Serie A season with Como.
The Premier League side had initially bid €40m for Paz, but Como rejected the offer, reportedly valuing the 20-year-old at around €70 million.
Paz has been identified as the ideal replacement for James Maddison, who suffered a serious ACL injury during a preseason friendly against Newcastle United. With Maddison set to miss the majority of the season, Tottenham are eager to secure Paz’s services to bolster their midfield.
The negotiations are complicated by Real Madrid’s option to re-sign Paz, valid until 2027. This means that the La Liga giants can match any offer Como receives for the youngster or re-sign him for €9m next summer or €10m in 2027. Despite this complexity, Tottenham are determined to secure Paz’s services.
Paz’s impressive debut season in Serie A has caught the attention of several top clubs, including Manchester United and Chelsea.
