Onana and Bayindir are both fit but the Manchester United manager has refused to confirm who will start in goal

Ruben Amorim has refused to confirm whether Andre Onana will reclaim his starting place for Manchester United’s trip to Fulham.

It leaves speculation swirling over the club’s goalkeeping situation after Altay Bayindir’s mistake cost his side against Arsenal last weekend.

Onana is back fit after a hamstring problem, but Amorim would not be drawn on whether he would be restored to the XI.

“Onana is ready to play like last week, so we will see in the game who is going to be the goalkeeper,” Amorim said on Friday.

Bayindir, deputising in the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal, was criticised for his role in conceding the decisive goal. It is not clear whether Amorim had intended that to be his opportunity to stake his claim for a starting berth.

The Turkish international has had limited chances since arriving at Old Trafford, but when he has been tested he has failed to convince.

It is perhaps unsurprising that reports have emerged that the club are in advanced negotiations with Royal Antwerp for Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens. United are understood to be in discussions over a €20m deal.
